Welcome to the web site of ESE, the Business School of the Universidad de los Andes. In 1999, the Universidad de los Andes implemented the creation of a Business School with a clear orientation towards business top management. Thus began ESE, which became the first business school in Chile with exclusively graduate studies.
Since then, eight years have gone by and the achievements have been many: our programs have consolidated in business high spheres and have a recognized reputation; we have experienced a remarkable growth as to the number of programs yearly offered, both open and in-company ones, and more than 5.800 managers and business persons have already attended them.
All the above said encouraged us to build new headquarters, exclusive for ESE, which were officially inaugurated in July of 2006.
ESE has been especially interested in fostering research and the development of subjects that have a high impact on business decisions. To that end, it has created professorships, professor chairs and centers oriented at the development of subjects related to corporate government, business ethics and social responsibility, human capital, family businesses and business humanism. We count with professors with an academic career recognized both in Chile and abroad. Many of them hold doctor degrees in business management from prestigious schools at world level and, besides being academics consecrated to research and teaching, they have vast experience as consultants and company board directors.
Since its initial stages, ESE enjoys the support of an Academic Board, made up of professors from different business schools, all of them with broad experience in program formulation. We count, as well, on the support of a Business Consulting Board, composed of prestigious businesspersons that have been generous enough to put their experience at our disposal.
Our programs have distinguished themselves for an approach eminently practical, but based at the same time in a great theoretical strictness. We use intensively the case method as a learning tool, following the line of teaching applied by the IESE of the Universidad de Navarra and Harvard Business School, both of which are leading schools in the use of this methodology. We are convinced of the enormous benefits of this system, as it carries an implicit development of managing skills and is thus most appropriate for the education of high managers.
Through this web site, we invite you to get acquainted with ESE and its programs. Through them, we hope to achieve one of our greatest desires: to have a positive influence on society by preparing managers and business persons who will be in possession of a solid humane and professional education.
